Bellarmine Lacrosse Teams Up with Donate Life and NBCF for Charity Duel

Bellarmine lacrosse to host charity duel with NBCF and Donate Life – Bellarmine University Athletics

Bellarmine University’s men’s lacrosse team is putting heart and hustle into a new kind of competition this fall. Head Coach Andrew Whitley announced the Knights will host a charity duel benefitting two tremendous causes: the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and Donate Life Kentucky.

How It Works

  • The team will split into two squads — Team NBCF and Team Donate Life — for an intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday, September 27 at noon ET at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.
  • Fans can purchase co-branded T-shirts for $30 at the game, with proceeds going directly to the featured charities.
  • The winner of the scrimmage will earn the right to choose which fall game their charity’s shirts will be sold at.

T-shirt sales schedule:

  • Saturday, October 5 vs. Indianapolis (12:00 pm ET)
  • Saturday, October 26 vs. Maryville (11:00 am ET)

Final sales for each charity will take place at Bellarmine’s regular-season home opener against Cleveland State. To make the stakes even higher, the Knights will donate an extra $500 to the charity that sells the most T-shirts.

Why It Matters

“This is an exciting way of supporting two worthy causes,” said Whitley. “It allows the competitive nature of our players to embrace the mission of two tremendous organizations. At the end of the day, both organizations will reap the benefit of our players’ efforts.”

  • Defender Nick Ferge, leading efforts for NBCF, shared: “I advocate for breast cancer research to honor the incredible women who’ve shaped my life with their strength and love. Supporting research means investing in hope, equity, and a future where no woman faces this disease alone.”
  • Goalie Grant Crossley, representing Donate Life, explained his personal connection: “Back in 2020, I lost one of my closest friends, who was an organ donor. I have met some of the people who now have a part of him, and it is truly amazing. Each year, his family hosts a lacrosse game with Donate Life in New York, and I’m fortunate to bring that tradition to Bellarmine and work with the Kentucky chapter of Donate Life.”

Continuing a Legacy of Giving

The Knights have already raised more than $9,400 for NBCF under Whitley’s leadership. This fall marks their first-ever partnership with Donate Life Kentucky, expanding the team’s impact and reinforcing the power of sports to inspire generosity, awareness, and hope.
