Gustavo’s to Host Citywide Fundraiser Benefiting Donate Life Kentucky Trust on Monday, June 23

Local heart transplant recipient and beloved restaurant owner team up to support transplant recipients and donor families and organ donation awareness

Louisville, KY — On Monday, June 23, all five Gustavo’s Mexican Grill locations across the Louisville area will donate 15% of total sales from lunch and dinner to Donate Life Kentucky Trust, a Louisville-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting transplant patients, donor families, and increasing organ donation registration throughout Kentucky.

This special fundraiser is inspired by Terri Cecere, a heart transplant recipient whose life was saved thanks to organ donation. The event is made possible through a partnership between Terri, her husband and caregiver George Cecere, and Gustavo Reyes, owner of Gustavo’s and a long-time friend of the Cecere family.

“This cause is personal. Terri’s story reminds us why giving back matters,” said Gustavo Reyes. “We’re proud to open our doors to the community and be part of something that supports families during their most difficult times.”

George Cecere is also the founder of TCH Caregiver’s Heart, a virtual, peer-led support program for caregivers of transplant recipients. In collaboration with Donate Life Kentucky Trust, the program offers emotional support, resources, and connection to those walking the caregiver journey.

Throughout the day, Terri and George Cecere will be present at select Gustavo’s locations, available for interviews and to share their story of survival, gratitude, and advocacy. Shannon Adkins, Philanthropy Director at Donate Life Kentucky Trust, will also be available to speak on the impact of community partnerships and the continued need for donor registration.

Informational materials and volunteers will be on-site during the day to educate guests on the importance of becoming an organ, eye, and tissue donor.

“This event is a powerful example of how local partnerships can help us save lives and support the transplant community,” said Shannon Adkins. “Every meal purchased on June 23 brings hope to families waiting for a second chance.”
