Amanda
Spouse of a double lung recipient
Organ donation has become deeply personal to me because my husband recently received a lifesaving lung transplant. Before his transplant, our family lived with uncertainty, and fear. Thanks to the selfless decision of an organ donor and their family, my husband was given a second chance at life. We will forever be grateful for the gift that has allowed him to breathe easier and continue making memories with the people who love him.
I want the public to know that organ donation truly changes lives. Behind every transplant is a real person, a real family, and a story filled with hope. Donation is not just about saving one life — it impacts spouses, children, parents, and entire communities. Our family has experienced firsthand how one person’s decision to register as a donor can bring healing and hope during someone else’s darkest time.
It is so important for everyone to join the Organ Donor Registry because there are thousands of people still waiting for the same miracle my husband received. Registering takes only a moment, but it has the power to save and heal many lives. By becoming an organ donor, you can leave a legacy of compassion, generosity, and hope for families like mine.
